Inchgrove

Field notes for your bonsai collection.

Inchgrove will keep track of your collection, trees and pots. You can link photos (or videos) and diary entries, and set up jobs for repotting and other tasks. Commonly grown species are included, with bonsai-specific traits and other details, and you can add your own species or cultivars.

Five sections

Inchgrove comes as an Android mobile app for when you are out among the benches, and as a desktop app (Windows / Linux) for indoor planning. You can use either, or both. Both the mobile app and the desktop app are laid out in a similar way, making it easy to switch between them.

  • Home

    Your collection at a glance.

  • Trees

Every tree you own, with its species, measurements, diary notes and photo history.

  • Pots

The pots you own, and which tree is sitting in each one.

  • Jobs

What needs doing and when, for one tree or the whole collection.

  • Species

The species catalogue, and a care guide for whatever you grow.

What it does

  • Trees and pots

Tag every tree, note its species and how far along it is, and track its trunk and height over the years. Link it to the pot it's sitting in, and when it moves on, archive it instead of deleting it so the history stays.

  • Species and care guides

Hundreds of species built in, room to add your own, and a care guide for each genus that holds your own notes, for you to keep.

  • Diary and jobs

Keep a diary for each tree, and for the collection as a whole. Set recurring jobs with reminders so repotting and feeding don't slip your mind.

  • Photos and video

Build a photo history for every tree, sketch your next cut right on a photo, and capture short clips while you work.

  • Printed QR labels

Print label sheets from the desktop app in five sizes, with an alignment sheet so they line up on your printer. Each one carries a QR code you scan with your phone to open that tree.

  • Printable reports

Eight PDFs built straight from your records, from a summary of the whole collection and a year in review to a valuation schedule for your insurer, a tree's profile with its photos year by year, and a job sheet for whoever waters while you're away.

  • Works offline

Your collection is stored on your device, so the app works with no signal and no account.

  • Yours to keep

Export your whole collection to a file you hold yourself, move it between devices or tuck it away as a backup, and sync it through your own Dropbox or OneDrive if you want that too.
